TED Talk: A journey to the center of your mind

18Mar08

After reading Imagination and the Meaningfull Brain I rememberd a TED talk from Vilayanur Ramachandran. He explores how brain damage can reveal the connection between the internal structures of the brain and the corresponding functions of the mind. He talks about phantom limb pain, synesthesia (when people hear color or smell sounds), and the Capgras delusion, when brain-damaged people believe their closest friends and family have been replaced with imposters.

  1. Bacteria, toxins, and other inflammatory substances may be released to the bloodstream
    and can create a systemic response. Caldwell Esselstyn, from the
    Cleveland Heart Clinic, began his own research. However stress sometimes does
    not happen only from issues that are happening in the present;
    sometimes it happens from things which were on-going
    inside our lives for an extended period of time, for example a
    lot of domestic violence and abuse, experiencing the divorce or perhaps separation.
