In no particulair order here are some great uses of shadows in advertising.
Lego
It’s all about the imagination. A very simple advert but yet so effective in getting the core value of lego accros.

WWF
A great use of (fake)shadows to make a connection with trees and wildlife.

This bilboard casts a shadow to give the impression of rising water levels.

Ariel
Done by Saatchi & Saatchi Paris. Neat idea !

Dukes of Hazzard
Dukes of Hazzard is all about cars racing around doing huge jumps over things. So the team at Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand stuck shadows of the Dukes Of Hazzard cars on streets, implying the car is airborne over the top of passers by

John Lewis
This is christmas advert where the shadows (a litle child and a woman) are created by presents they are hoping for. It’s inspired (some say ripped off) by the work of Tim Noble and Sue Webster. They create shadows from piles of rubbish.

Fishermans Cove
I love the simplicity in the hearth-shaped shadow coming from the ring.

McDonalds
Leo Burnett, with the help of an engineer, designed a billboard in Chicago for McDonald’s which acts as a sun dial to create a shadow of the McDonald’s arches over a different breakfast food for each hour of the morning.

Volkswagen
Who is more qualified for advertising a convertible than the sun itself?
